The Philippine SID committee headed by Stairway Foundation, celebrated SID 2015 in the Philippines by conducting an Online Safety caravan in Juan Sumulong High School, Quezon City last February 10, 2015. Through Stairway’s Break the Silence campaign – a campaign for the prevention of child sexual abuse – the Online Safety caravan reached out to students through an Online Safety session, with the aim of equipping them with internet safety measures that they can pass on to their fellow students.
Schools which participated in SID 2015 included Juan Sumulong HS, Carlos P. Garcia HS, Ramon Magsaysay HS, North Fairview HS, Camp Emilio Aguinaldo HS, Jose P. Laurel HS, Don Quintin HS and Quirino HS. A total of 76 students from the different schools participated in the event. Simultaneously, Microsoft Philippines conducted a digital safety and literacy session for parents and teachers of the students who attended the Stairway online safety session.
SID 2015 in the Philippines was also celebrated in conjunction with the National Child Sexual Abuse Awareness Week of the Sub-committee for the prevention of sexual abuse and exploitation of the Council for the Welfare of Children.
