This study explores the nutritional status and parasitic infection rates among school-attending Mangyan children in three communities in Puerto Galera. Findings show that children from more remote villages experience significantly higher levels of stunted growth and helminth infections, underscoring the need for targeted, culturally respectful health and nutrition interventions for indigenous communities. Stairway Foundation supported the study by facilitating access to the communities, assisting with communication, and contributing local knowledge through its long-standing work with Mangyan communities in Puerto Galera.
