I have never considered myself an artist, but rather, someone who appreciates the arts. Coming from the social development background, the word “artist” has been for me, reserved for those who engage in the craft full time. However, over the years, I have realized that we are all artists in our own way. Art for me is about inspiration, interpretation and creation. As a child protection worker who travels a lot, I get inspiration from the people I meet both on and off the trainings, the places I see and the emotions (both positive and negative) I get from a certain experience or moment. A certain place or moment will be seen by different people using different lenses and perspective, and my photography reflects how I perceive a certain moment. As I combine inspiration and interpretation, I consider my photographs as my creations – freezing a certain moment for others to enjoy or “experience”. The photos in this collection reflect what I have seen, who I have met, and what I have experience. I hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed “creating” them. It is a testament of how beautiful our world is (despite how somethings are just as horrible) and how Stairway has helped fuel this creative side of me.
