SFI REFUND POLICY
At Stairway Foundation, Inc. (SFI), monetary donations are generally considered acts of goodwill and are non-refundable. However, in certain exceptional circumstances, a refund may be considered. This policy outlines the terms, conditions, and procedures regarding refunds.
I. General Terms & Conditions for Monetary Donations
- Donations are made voluntarily, without expectation of return or benefit.
- All donations are committed to the organization’s stated charitable purposes, programs, and beneficiaries.
- Donors are encouraged to exercise due care and verify all details before confirming a donation.
- For card payments, donors must be the authorized user of the payment method with sufficient funds.
- Donations are generally final and non-refundable, especially if a tax receipt has been issued and claimed.
- Donations made through external platforms are subject to the platform’s refund policies
II. Circumstances in whic refunds may be considered
A. Refunds may be reviewed and approved under limited circumstances, including:
- Administrative or technical errors causing an incorrect charge.
- Accidental multiple donations of the same amount
- Unintentional errors in the donation amount
- Unauthorized donations, such as those made with a lost or stolen credit card.
- Donors intended a one-time donation but a recurring payment was set up by mistake.
- Other unique and justified reasons, reviewed case-by-case by management.
B. Donations that are not eligible for refunds include:
- Donations made knowingly and voluntarily
- Donations for which a tax receipt has been issued and claimed
- Requests submitted after 15 days from the donation date
III. Refund Request Process
- Donors must submit a formal request via email or letter to Stairway’s Admin and Finance Unit
- Requests should include:
- Donor name and contact details
- Donation date and amount
- Payment method
- Clear explanation for the refund request
- The organization will review the request and may contact the donor for further information.
- Stairway’s decision on refunds is final and binding.
- Approved refunds will be returned to the agreed method and may take several business days to process.
