Easing pandemic restrictions allowed us to bring the climate talks nearer to the general public. Last February 17, Ocean Brew Coffee Shop hosted a Climate Reality Talk. Overlooking the beautiful Muelle Bay, a diverse mix of people participated.
Reaching Children with the Climate Reality Talks
Last April, during the Earth Week celebration, we expanded the reach of the Climate Reality Talks to younger people in the schools.
Utilizing over 1,000 books donated from CANVAS’ One Million Books Campaign, members of the local youth group Kabataan Para Sa Kalikasan (KAPAKA) and EACY Club launched a climate literacy and plastic pollution campaign among elementary pupils in the locality. Earlier in the month, the organizers conducted a workshop and training session for volunteer storytellers before launching the activities on Earth Day.
We plan to hold Climate Talks once a month around elementary schools in Puerto Galera. In addition, we will host Climate Film Showings and Storytelling workshops at Stairway for budding climate activists.
